Dawn of War 4 Adeptus Mechanicus: Units and Noosphere
For the first time in Dawn of War you can command the Adeptus Mechanicus: a fast, long-range army that gets stronger the more of its Noosphere Network you build. Here is how they play, every unit revealed so far, their Commanders and how to beat them.
Last updated Game version: Pre-launch (official info, October 2026)
Play the Adeptus Mechanicus if you like to build up and then out-shoot the enemy. Their units are quick and best at range, and every structure you link into the Noosphere Network raises its level, unlocking stronger units and research and making the units inside it stronger and cheaper. The catch: the network can be cut, and melee units that reach your firing line hurt.

| Weak spot | Melee units that reach the firing line; a network that can be cut |

How the Adeptus Mechanicus play
The Adeptus Mechanicus are playable in Dawn of War for the first time. They are quick and best at range, and their Noosphere Network links buildings, defenses and units: the bigger it gets, the stronger and cheaper the army inside it becomes. They work with House Raven, which gives them Imperial Knights.
- Noosphere Network: Links buildings, static weapons and units. Its level rises with each structure, unlocking powerful units, upgrades and research, and units inside it get stronger and cheaper.
- Auger Vision: Shows a rough heatmap of enemy activity under the fog of war.
- Void Shield: A huge shield that units can walk through but enemies cannot shoot through, good for chokepoints.
- Drop Keeps: How the Knight Castellan arrives on the battlefield.
Building the Noosphere Network
Structures, static guns and units are linked back to your headquarters. The more structures in the network, the higher its level, and each level unlocks more powerful units, upgrades and research. Units inside the network fight better and cost less, so an opponent wins as much by cutting it, above all by destroying Cogitator Relays, as by beating your army. The Adeptus Mechanicus can also build a garrison structure of their own for troops to fight from.
Auger Vision shows a rough heatmap of enemy activity under the fog of war: not exact, but enough to see trouble coming. The Void Shield is a huge dome your units can walk through but enemy fire cannot pass, which turns a choke point into a killing ground.
Range first, melee as bait
Close combat is not their strength, so their melee units work as bait. Ruststalkers drag enemies into a close fight, and while they are busy, Skitarii Rangers shoot them down from a safe distance. For heavy firepower the Adeptus Mechanicus fight beside House Raven, a house of Imperial Knights, which is how the Knight Castellan joins the army: it lands in a Drop Keep. Their full roster sits next to the other factions' in our Dawn of War 4 units list.
Story: whose side are you on?
On Kronus, Magos Dominus Nulpherus-1 leads an expedition into a dormant Necron tomb in search of forbidden knowledge, and he is hiding something. In the campaign you choose whether to stay loyal and fight as his Skitarii Marshal, Sek-Ix-23, or break away and follow the Technoarcheologist Potentia Delta-9's own plans. What they are digging up is what draws the Necrons back to the planet.
Adeptus Mechanicus Commanders
Potentia Delta-9
Technoarcheologist who scouts with a servo-skull and can be built for melee or range.
Voiced by Jess Nesling.
Skitarii Marshal Sek-Ix-23
Buffs every unit around him and fights with bodyguards, the only Commander made of several models.
Voiced by Richard Reed.
In multiplayer and Skirmish you pick one Commander before the match and usually build it mid-match; match settings can also make it a starting unit or switch Commanders off.

Questions
Are the Adeptus Mechanicus playable in Dawn of War 4?
Yes. Dawn of War IV is the first game in the series where you can play them. They have their own campaign and two Commanders, Potentia Delta-9 and Skitarii Marshal Sek-Ix-23.
What is the Noosphere Network?
The Adeptus Mechanicus link their buildings, static weapons and units to their headquarters. Each structure raises the network's level, unlocking stronger units, upgrades and research, and units inside it become stronger and cheaper.
Do the Adeptus Mechanicus have Imperial Knights in Dawn of War 4?
Yes. They work with House Raven, which gives them the Knight Castellan. It arrives on the battlefield in a Drop Keep.
How do you beat the Adeptus Mechanicus in Dawn of War 4?
Get melee units into their ranged lines, destroy Cogitator Relays to break up the Noosphere Network, and do not try to out-produce them: their basic units are cheap and their late-game units are strong.
