Wargear: one unit, several jobs

Many units can be fitted out for a different job during the match. Space Marine Intercessors swap rifles or add a grenade launcher, and their Sergeant carries either close-combat gear for crowds or a Thunder Hammer and Plasma Pistol for tanks. Ork Meganobz pick long-range rokkits or short-range flamers. Veterancy adds more on top: units earn experience, and for the Orks it comes fast, unlocking new weapons and extra models early.

Faction guides

Each faction's guide explains how its units work together, its Commanders and how to beat it: Space Marines, Orks, Necrons and Adeptus Mechanicus. The Dawn of War 4 factions comparison puts all four side by side.

What changes at launch

Commander Edition owners start on November 30 and everyone else on December 3; the Dawn of War 4 release countdown shows how many days are left. From then on we add every unit that was not revealed before launch, plus costs and what each unit is good against, once two different players' matches agree. Until then a blank is better than a guess.

Questions

How many units are in Dawn of War 4?

More than a hundred units and buildings in total, according to the developer, with variants and weapon options on top. 23 units have been named in official posts so far (Space Marines 6, Orks 6, Necrons 5, Adeptus Mechanicus 6); this list adds the rest after launch.

What are the best units in Dawn of War 4?

Nobody outside the studio can say yet: costs and stats are not public, and the closed beta was under NDA. Rankings will come after launch, from what players see in real matches, not from guesses.

Can you change unit weapons in Dawn of War 4?

Yes. Many units take different weapons or upgrades. Intercessors can swap their Bolt Rifles for Auto or Stalker Bolt Rifles and add a grenade launcher, and Meganobz choose between Kombi-Rokkits and Kombi-Skorchas.

Is the Imperial Guard in Dawn of War 4?

Not as a playable faction. The four at launch are the Space Marines, Orks, Necrons and Adeptus Mechanicus. Astra Militarum (Imperial Guard) forces do appear in the campaign story, and the fifth faction that comes with the Aftermath DLC has not been named.
