Dawn of War 4 Orks: Gorgutz, Guzcutta and the Waaagh!
The Orks win by numbers, nonstop attacks and the Waaagh!, and they come to Dawn of War IV with two rival bosses: the returning Warboss Gorgutz and the Beast Snagga upstart Guzcutta. Here is how they play, every Ork unit revealed so far, and how to beat them.
Last updated Game version: Pre-launch (official info, October 2026)
Play the Orks if you like to attack all the time. They have some of the cheapest units and buildings in the game, gain Veterancy faster than anyone, and fill a Waaagh! meter that makes the whole army stronger for a while when you trigger it. Their weak spot is shooting: their individual ranged units are not strong, so they win through mass and timing.
The Orks at a glance

How the Orks play
The Orks win through numbers and constant pressure. They have some of the cheapest units and buildings in the game, gain Veterancy quickly and want to expand all the time. Their single ranged units are weak, so they rely on mass and on timing the Waaagh!.
- Waaagh!: A meter that fills with the number of Orks on the field and the enemies they kill. Trigger it and every fighting unit turns stronger for a while.
- Waaagh! Banners: Banners you raise around your bases as you spread out.
- Free Stratagems: For the Orks, Stratagems cost nothing, so use them whenever you can.
- Fast Veterancy: Ork units level up quickly, unlocking new weapons and extra models early.
Two bosses: Gorgutz and Guzcutta
Warboss Gorgutz of the Bad Moons, a familiar face from the earlier games, opens the story by attacking the Blood Ravens in orbit above Kronus. On the planet, the Beast Snagga boss Guzcutta is already hunting the humans, and the campaign sets the old-school Orks against these newcomers in a fight over who gets to be boss.
Gorgutz wears Mega Armour: slow, but very strong, with options for both close and ranged combat. His trick 'I'm Out of Here' teleports him out of trouble while his Gretchin leaves a pile of bombs where he stood. Guzcutta fights on foot as a tough Beast Snagga boss and, later in the campaign, rides a Squigosaur, which makes him faster and adds a beast that fights beside him. Guzcutta also gets a free Last Stand and Crusade update on the Dawn of War 4 roadmap.
Bases that shoot back
Almost any Ork infantry can build, buildings are cheap and every one of them is armed, so Ork bases creep toward the enemy and newly made units have a short walk to the front. Orks can also put down their own cover, which cuts the damage ranged attacks do to the units behind it.
Spread out with several bases and Waaagh! Banners, and use Stratagems whenever you can: for the Orks they cost nothing. Veterancy comes quickly too, unlocking new weapons and extra models early, so keeping units alive pays off even for the cheapest army. The other factions' units are side by side with the Orks in our Dawn of War 4 units list.
Orks Commanders
Warboss Gorgutz
Returning Warboss in Mega Armour: slow, but powerful, with options for melee and ranged combat. His 'I'm Out of Here' ability teleports him away and leaves a pile of bombs behind.
Voiced by Brian Drummond.
Guzcutta
Beast Snagga
Beast Snagga Boss who fights on foot and later rides a Squigosaur in the campaign.
Voiced by Joshua Manning.
In multiplayer and Skirmish you pick one Commander before the match and usually build it mid-match; match settings can also make it a starting unit or switch Commanders off.
Orks units revealed so far
Slugga Boyz
Core Ork infantry. Their Burna upgrade is one of the weapons the developer points to against big groups of enemies.
Flash Gitz
Strong ranged infantry with rapid-firing snazzguns, good for punching through defenses.
Squighog Riders
Beast Snagga Boyz on mounts: quick to turn up anywhere, then they hit hard with their Stikka spears.
Meganobz
Heavy infantry you build one of two ways: Kombi-Rokkits for long range, or Kombi-Skorchas for short-range damage over an area.
Deff Dread
An Ork walker. The Back to War trailer shows one going toe-to-toe with a Space Marine Redemptor Dreadnought.
Gorkanaut
A giant Ork war machine that fires barrages of rokkits, not all of which hit what they were aimed at.
Costs, health and damage have not been published. We add them after launch, once two different players' matches agree. The buildings and Stratagems are in the full Dawn of War 4 units list.
How to play and beat the Orks
Playing the Orks
- Keep up the pressure with nonstop attacks and big numbers.
- Spread out: several bases, several strongholds and plenty of Waaagh! Banners.
- Use Stratagems at every chance, since they are free for you.
Playing against them
- Ork buildings shoot back but go down easily: chip away at their bases.
- Punish careless attacks and use the gaps their aggression leaves.
- Win with good ranged units, their weak spot.
Voice cast
- Warboss Gorgutz: Brian Drummond
- Guzcutta: Joshua Manning
- Orks: Chris Tester

Questions
Who are the Ork Commanders in Dawn of War 4?
Warboss Gorgutz, back from the earlier Dawn of War games in Mega Armour, and Guzcutta, a new Beast Snagga boss who later rides a Squigosaur in the campaign.
Is Gorgutz in Dawn of War 4?
Yes. Warboss Gorgutz of the Bad Moons is one of the two Ork Commanders and starts the story by ambushing the Blood Ravens above Kronus. Brian Drummond voices him again.
How does the Waaagh! work in Dawn of War 4?
It is a meter that fills with the number of Orks you have on the field and the enemies they kill. When you trigger it, every fighting unit gets much stronger for a while, so picking the moment decides fights.
How do you beat the Orks in Dawn of War 4?
Fight them at range, where their units are weakest, punish the gaps their constant attacks leave, and go after their buildings: they shoot back but go down easily.
