How Last Stand works

Last Stand is the horde mode many players remember from Dawn of War II, and KING Art brings it back for Dawn of War IV. You and two allies fight to survive while the enemy attacks in waves. Every wave is stronger than the one before, so the mode is built to push you to the limit of your skill. To stay ahead, you level up your characters and unlock new skills and equipment as the match goes on.

It sits next to the four story campaigns, Skirmish and online multiplayer; the Dawn of War 4 gameplay page shows how all the modes fit together, and the Dawn of War 4 FAQ answers the other co-op questions, including co-op in the campaigns.

Last Stand after launch

The Year One roadmap keeps adding to the mode for free. Two of the four free updates bring new Last Stand and Crusade scenarios built around a Commander:

  • Lord Ahmnok (Map Pack II): New Last Stand and Crusade scenarios for the Necron Commander Ahmnok. Second, before spring 2027.
  • Guzcutta (Map Pack IV): New Last Stand and Crusade scenarios for the Ork Commander Guzcutta. Fourth, toward summer 2027.

Lord Ahmnok leads the Necrons and Guzcutta the Orks; both are on our Dawn of War 4 Commanders page. The full order of free updates and paid DLCs is on the Dawn of War 4 roadmap.
